Olivia Isabel Rodrigo was born on February 20, 2003, at Rancho Springs Medical Hub in Murrieta, California, to college teacher Jennifer and household specialist Chris Rodrigo. She lived and grew up in surrounding Temecula.

Rodrigo is Filipino American; her dad is Filipino, although her mother has German and Irish ancestry. She stated that her paternal great-grandfather moved from the Philippines to the USA as a teen, and her family adheres to Filipino traditions and food.

Rodrigo started getting vocal training in kindergarten and discovered playing piano soon after. She began taking performing and vocal courses at age six and acting in theater manufacturing in primary school. Rodrigo was playing an instrument by age 12.

She matured by listening to her parents’ favorite alternative music, such as the bands No Doubt, Pearl Jam, the White-colored Stripes, and Green Day. Rodrigo became interested in songwriting after paying attention to country music, primarily American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. She moved to Los Angeles after landing her role on Bizaardvark.
